Observações sobre este EP, videoclips e letras...
Andava eu a remexer na estante dos CD's, deu-me para remexer no alinhamento de alguns artistas ao longo da mesma, no fundo juntar afinidades de estilo. Peguei neste EP em forma de CD-single (formato já extinto) do Richard Ashcroft, o "A Song For The Lovers" EP. Na altura saiu para as lojas como avanço da nova carreira a solo do vocalista dos The Verve (na altura, uma banda que tinha cessado carreira... mas lá regressaram 10 anos depois). Tal como quando saiu na altura, foi a capa do EP que me chamou a atenção novamente. Simples mas sugestiva qb... e novamente me despertou contemplar o conceito artístico. Há muito tempo que não lhe pegava na verdade, pois desde que a musica passou a ser
usada no computador, deu nisto. Reparei que o EP contém 3 faixas e na minha discoteca do iTunes apenas tinha mantido uma delas (a segunda porque a primeira tenho-a copiada do álbum "Alone With Everybody" -2000).
Bom novamente o ripei e desta a coisa ficou completa.
Foi bom recordar isto. A canção "A Song For The Lovers" é daquelas que tem a pontuação máxima no meu iTunes e foi sempre residente nos meus leitores musicais digitais (iPod e iPhone) e assim continuará pois é intemporal.
É isto... partilha musical e nada de mais.

Esta canção tem um video muito curioso. Na verdade, até não glorifica lá muito a canção (que é excelente) mas usa-a como banda-sonora quase mental do "amante" que se encontra sozinho num quarto de hotel, já muito frustrado e em desalento por cada vez mais se ver pendurado...
Na altura que vi isto, em 2000, fiquei atónito pois a capa do EP e o nome da canção, sugeriam que o videoclip iria ser algo mesmo muito romântico mas não se deu isso. Contudo, este video coloca uma outra perspectiva e faz isso com um requinte e ironia mordaz. Digo que hoje, entendo-o melhor e ao mesmo tempo a este EP e ao album que daqui originou. Coisas que o avançar do tempo e a puta da idade, sempre a somarem, melhor entendem...

Video muito simples realmente mas que sabe pontuar a melancolia das letras e intenção desta canção. Curiosamente, remete visualmente para aquele que seria o título do álbum (Alone With Everybody);
